Level 1 PE

For the past few weeks in level one PE we have been training for the school athletics. I was training with some friends and improving with them aswell as having fun. We trained events like javelin, discus, shotput, high jump and 100 metre. We all tried our best in all the events leading upto the day. But we missed a few trainings due to covid and our school going into online learning. The reason I do pe is because it keeps me active and takes me outside of class.

This is Derrick Rose he is the youngest MVP in NBA history throughout his basketball career he has suffered many severe injuries and still pushes through them to drop 50 points on his first game back after injury. His mindset to improve is very inspirational

Managing the Environment

 Resources

Resources are things you can rely on to function effectively. It can be money and materials. Like clothing, food and money.

Environment

An environment is a place where humans or animals live to operate and continue with their lives. Animals' environments are out in the wild in the trees, ocean etc. And our environment is the city and stuff like that

Sustainability

Sustainability is the ability to last in a variety of different domains in life. SUStainability is also about the environment and keeping it healthy and SUStainable

The resource I researched this term was wood. Why I chose this particular resource is because it is a commonly used resource. The current management of this resource looks like monitoring the current behaviours (e.g. how much waste does it create in a day/week/month?) it does not create waste it builds houses How are you planning to manage this particular resource more effectively? We could improve this resource and make it more eco friendly by having electric powered trucks to cart the wood around the country. This will be a dramatic change with a lot of benefits and a safer place for people. And make the airways clearer.

Does practice make perfect?

Hello, today in science we are blogging about our science fair project. My science fair project is about how to get the perfect basketball shot. We are going to see if doing 10 pushups changes your shot and we are also going to change where you stand to see if it changes your shot.

Legacy of learning

Last week we were learning to write a letter to the past. Write to someone whose legacy you admire. Explain how their legacy has made an impact on you. Remember that person never expected to leave a legacy. But they did. What would you like to tell them?

Persuasion

Today in writing we re-visited O.R.E.O writing and I did a UN-jumbling activity that helped me to restore my memory of Oreo writing. After we took a stance on a topic. "Animals should be kept as pets". The easy part was coming up with reasons the hard part was trying to come up with reasons on the spot in our debate against pets should not be kept as pets. My next step is to backup my reasons

Narrative writing

For the last week we have been learning about narrative writing and to write about what it would feel like to be a dog. The hard part was making my story interesting the easy part was making my story easy to read. here is my story. My next step is to add more adjectives.

It’s a normal Monday night I’d just finished rugby training. I'm puffed out and I just want to go to bed. But my mum is making  me eat so I don't eat too much. Tomorrow is the biggest game of the year for our team. Because we are competing against the top team and the winning gets to fly to America to meet a famous.

So I go to bed remembering to warm up in my backyard. I woke up in the morning and try to put on my clothes but for some reason i can’t. Soon I noticed I’m a furry overgrown German Shepherd. I'm sad because I can’t tell my mum I'm a dog and I barely see my dad because hes always at work. I keep thinking what am I supposed to do I'm the leading scorer in my team. Then I feel like I,m cursed or something I never thought something bad would happen to me. After I blackout and I'm just lying on the ground as a dog. As I lay on the ground I'm petrified am I going to stay like this forever? Is it a dream? I thing of all the bad things as a dog and I won’t be treated more than just a pet. What am I supposed to do. I can’t stop thinking about all the bad things like eating from a bowl, being caged up in the cold unpredictable pitch black night. I keep saying this is only a dream, this is only a dream. Two hours later I hear my mum calling me “Dave come on we are going to be late for you're big game” I am moping around jump into the car like a sack of potatoes and just sit in the car and watch my team get torn up by the other team. I'm just mad saying “why now it could’ve been any other time but now” and then I'm just mad because I never even got a chance to go to America. Well I go to bed sad and wake up the next day and I'm normal. “How ironic” I change back the day after I get changed to a dog I'm not mad just disappointed that I didn't get a shot at our game yesterday and then I just say oh well  maybe next time.

Two weeks later my mum gets a call from our coach saying “The other team canceled it turns out the opposing coach paid the ref to be one sided so our whole team was excited to go to America and go to Disneyland and everywhere else it was a miracle I was so happy that we went.

Waka reflection

Last week we tested our waka we all built different waka. The easy part was making the design the hard part was holding the coins on my boat. And they were all buoyant until we put coins on we started seeing different waka sink but most that sunk were made out of tin foil and the ones were made out of bottles floated the bottle made boats were less dense so they floated the tin foil was less dense to but they didn't have the support to hold a coin so it sunk here is one of the successful boats. Next time I will make sure my materials are durable and strong

Athletics day

Yesterday we had athletics we were learning to co-operate and support others and have a good attitude towards what were dong and just having fun.  I like the house relays because we were coming second in every other race until we raced. The easy part was long jump whilst I was just having fun because I came 4th. The hard part was the full on sprints because I knew there were fast people but I tried my best anyway. When the first  people ran they were neck-n-neck and then we they handed the batons to us everyone dropped it except for us so as soon as we got it we were gone here is some photos of us

Waka test

Today we went down to the pool to test Honekais boat we filled it with water and we had to predict whether it was going to float or sink it obviously sank because of how solid the inside was if it had no water on the inside it will float because its less dense
