Waka haerenga

Today we went to Opua to learn about Hekenukumai busby's legacy and his lives work. We learnt some waka positions and learnt about the knots and how to tie them properly and how they navigate on a traditional sailing canoe and how they navigated from one place to another. Here are some photos from our haerenga.

  3. Kai Ora Kody, My name is Anyah from Paihia School and I’m a year 7 student in Te Ngahere. That's really cool that you have learned how to do hoe and went on wakahourrua. When I first saw the photos I was so surprised because that was my aunty Jolen Busby in one of them. Before you went to Opua did you already know those lessons?
